ADHD Psychiatric Care in Georgia

Evaluation, diagnosis and medication management for adults, teenagers and children across Georgia. In person in Sugar Hill or by telehealth.

Attention Problems Are Not Always ADHD

Anxiety, depression, poor sleep, thyroid problems and trauma all produce difficulty concentrating, and treating the wrong one wastes months. A proper evaluation rules the alternatives in or out before anything is prescribed.

What ADHD Treatment Involves

It starts with an ADHD evaluation and diagnosis. If the diagnosis holds, treatment begins with a medication chosen for your situation and adjusted at follow-up rather than left alone. That second part is where most of the work happens, and it is the part a single appointment cannot cover.

We prescribe both stimulants and non-stimulants. Which one you are offered depends on your situation rather than on a practice policy. See how ADHD medication works.

ADHD Medication Shows Itself Quickly

Stimulants show their effect within days rather than weeks; non-stimulants take several weeks. Either way the dose is tuned at follow-up rather than set once. See ADHD medication.

  1. Starting

    A Low Dose First

Stimulant or non-stimulant, chosen for your situation, never by practice policy.

  2. First days

    Stimulants Show Early

You usually know within days whether a stimulant is helping. Non-stimulants take weeks.

  3. Follow-up

    The Dose Is Tuned

Closer follow-up than most medication, because the dose is adjusted rather than set once.

  4. If it is not working

    Adjust

A different dose, a different formulation, or a switch to the other class.

How We Decide Whether Medication Is Right for You

Some practices prescribe stimulants and nothing else. Some refuse to prescribe them at all. We do both.

Stimulant Medication

First-line for most people with ADHD and the most effective on average. Prescribed where appropriate, including by telehealth, with the monitoring it requires.

How we prescribe stimulants →

Non-Stimulant Medication

Atomoxetine, viloxazine, guanfacine and clonidine. Worth considering if stimulants have not worked, if side effects were hard, or if you would rather not.

School and Workplace Documentation

Where a diagnosis supports it, we provide what a school needs for a 504 plan or an IEP, and the paperwork an employer needs for accommodations at work.

How Soon You Can Be Seen

You do not need a referral to book unless your insurance plan requires one, and every appointment can be done by video from home, at the same self-pay rate as being in the room. If you are near Sugar Hill you can do either.

ADHD looks different at eight than it does at thirty-eight, and the evaluation accounts for that. We see adults, teenagers, and children from age six with a parent or guardian involved throughout.

Cost Should Not Be a Surprise

Your benefits are verified before the appointment, so you know what you owe before you come in.

  • Self-pay first visit $300 Evaluation or medication review, new patients
  • Self-pay follow-up $175 Follow-up or medication review, current patients

Care at Ridge Way is delivered by our clinical team, licensed in Georgia and working with physician oversight. Your history, medication response and treatment decisions are documented in one chart, so another member of the team can review what has already been tried.

What to Expect from the First Visit

Scheduled with time for your whole history, especially where the picture is complicated.

  1. What Has Been Happening

School reports, work history, and what a normal week actually looks like, not a checklist alone.

  2. What Else Is Involved

Sleep, anxiety, mood and medical history, because several conditions make concentrating hard.

  3. What You Leave With

A diagnosis where one applies, a clear plan, and a prescription only where one actually fits.

  4. Every Visit After

Closer follow-up than most medication: stimulants are controlled, so the dose is tuned, not set.

What We Treat, and What We Refer Out

ADHD Questions Patients Ask

Do you prescribe Adderall and other stimulants?

Yes, where it is clinically appropriate, including by telehealth. That decision follows a full evaluation rather than a request, and it comes with the monitoring responsible prescribing requires. We do not prescribe benzodiazepines. See our full scope of care.

Can ADHD be treated by telehealth?

Yes, including stimulant prescribing. Evaluation and follow-up both work by secure video, and the self-pay rate is the same as in person. How telehealth works.

I was diagnosed years ago. Do I need a new evaluation?

If you have documentation from a previous prescriber, bring it. A full re-evaluation is not always necessary, but we do need enough of a clinical picture to prescribe safely. That usually means one appointment rather than a whole process.

What if stimulants have not worked for me before?

That is common and worth unpicking before concluding anything. Sometimes the dose was wrong, sometimes the formulation was wrong, and sometimes ADHD was not the whole picture. Non-stimulant options work well for a substantial number of people.

Is ADHD medication covered by insurance?

Appointments are covered by the plans we are in network with, and we verify your benefits before your first visit. Medication cover depends on your plan’s formulary rather than on us. See accepted insurance.

Will you help with a 504 plan or an IEP?

Yes, where a diagnosis supports it. We provide the clinical documentation a school needs to build a plan. There is a fee for paperwork completion listed on our pricing page.

I can’t find an ADHD doctor near me who is accepting new patients. Can Ridge Way help?

Possibly. We evaluate and treat ADHD in children, teens and adults throughout Georgia. If ADHD is a concern, we start with a full psychiatric evaluation and discuss whether stimulant or non-stimulant treatment is appropriate for your situation.

What if I am in crisis?

Ridge Way is not an emergency service. If someone is in immediate danger, call 911. For a mental health or suicide crisis, call or text 988, any time, or call the Georgia Crisis and Access Line at 1-800-715-4225. Crisis resources. For a second, independent read, NIMH’s overview of ADHD covers the same ground.
